About KineticMetrix
What KineticMetrix Is
KineticMetrix exists because most online health calculators don't tell you which formula they use, where it came from, or what its limitations are. Every calculator on this site cites the original publication of the formula it implements. Every result page includes a "Methodology & Sources" section that names the source, the sample size where applicable, and the known accuracy range.
The site is built and maintained by Andreas. He is not a doctor, dietitian, or coach. He's a self-tracker with a long-running interest in evidence-based body composition, training, and recovery — the same numbers many current users (lifters, runners, recreational athletes, anyone tracking their own metrics) are working with daily.
KineticMetrix is a reference site, not a prescription. It tells you what the published sources say, with citations you can verify yourself. For decisions involving diagnosis, treatment, or significant health change, consult a qualified healthcare professional.
Calculator Categories
KineticMetrix offers free health and fitness calculators across four categories:
- Body Composition — BMI, FFMI, body fat percentage, lean body mass, waist ratios, visceral fat risk
- Nutrition — TDEE, macronutrients, protein targets, water intake, caloric deficit
- Performance — One-rep max, VO₂max, Wilks score, heart rate zones, running pace
- Longevity — Ideal body weight, body adiposity index, sleep duration
There are no user accounts, no databases, and no stored personal data. You enter numbers, get results.
Editorial Process
Every calculator on KineticMetrix follows the same five-step process. The aim is to make the methodology fully transparent — so a reader who wants to verify the formula or check the underlying study can do so in one click.
- Source identification. A published formula with documented validity is selected — typically a peer-reviewed journal paper, sometimes a textbook, government report, or expert consensus statement (e.g. National Sleep Foundation panel, ISSN Position Stand).
- Source verification. The formula is checked against the original publication, not against secondary references. If a published paper has been corrected or superseded, the most recent version is used and the change is noted.
- Implementation. The formula is implemented exactly as published, with no smoothing, "tuning," or cross-mixing of sources.
- Interpretation. A short explanatory section is written for the result — what it means, how to read it, and the typical accuracy range. This is grounded in the same source that defines the formula.
- Limitations. Every calculator page lists the known edge cases where the formula is less accurate (e.g. body fat formulas in very lean or very obese individuals, BMR formulas in trained populations).
Editorial Standards
- Every calculator cites at least one published source with a DOI, PubMed link, or equivalent reference.
- Limitations are stated prominently. No calculator is perfect for every person.
- Result pages always include a note that outputs are for general informational purposes only, not medical advice.
- No personal data is collected, stored, or sold.
- When new evidence meaningfully changes a recommendation, the calculator and supporting article are updated and the change date is shown.
Who Builds This
Andreas is the sole author and maintainer of KineticMetrix. He is not a medical professional. The work he does for KineticMetrix is editorial: identifying sources, verifying formulas, implementing them faithfully, and writing the interpretation and limitation sections. For the substance of any calculator's underlying formula, the original publication cited on each page is the authoritative reference — KineticMetrix is the layer that makes that source easy to find and verify.
How We Make Money
KineticMetrix earns revenue in two ways:
- Display advertising — when activated, Google AdSense will serve ads on the site. We will not control which ads appear. Personalised advertising is gated behind explicit user consent (Google Consent Mode v2, default-denied).
- Affiliate links — some calculator pages link to relevant products on Amazon. We participate in the Amazon Associates programme and earn a small commission if you purchase through those links, at no extra cost to you.
Neither revenue stream influences which calculators we build or what results they return. Our formulas come from published science, not from sponsors. Full affiliate disclosure →
